A court in Mansa, Gandhinagar, on Tuesday convicted journalist Ravi Nair in a criminal defamation case filed by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) and sentenced him to one year in jail along with a fine.
The case was heard by the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mansa after Adani Enterprises filed a private complaint under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code. The company alleged that Nair published a series of tweets and online articles that damaged its reputation.

Adani Enterprises claimed that the content contained false allegations, including accusations of corruption, environmental violations, misuse of government agencies, and political patronage.
