E-commerce firm Flipkart announced on Sunday that 1.4 billion customers visited their platform during the annual flagship sale event, named Big Billion Days 2023. Flipkart said that they registered a record performance in festive sales. The company provided exciting discounts and offers on smartphones, electronics, accessories, home appliances and several other products.

“Reflecting an overall uptick in consumer sentiment, the 10th edition of TBBD witnessed a record 1.4 Billion customer visits over early access and 7 days of the shopping festival,” the company mentioned in its statement. The Big Billion Days sale commenced on October 8 and ended on October 15. Flipkart Plus members got early access on October 7. Flipkart said in its statement that choices in smartphones, laptops, tablets, and home appliances showed a strong premiumization trend across the country this year.

The e-commerce platform also said that they delivered products to locations including Andaman, Hayuliang (Arunachal Pradesh), Choglamsar (Ladakh), Kutch (Gujarat), and Longewala (Rajasthan). Flipkart also witnessed a 60 percent surge in Flipkart Plus memberships compared to the previous year. “This year’s ‘The Big Billion Days’ has received great response from both customers and our extensive network of sellers across the country, which reaffirms Flipkart’s purpose of delivering value and convenience to the larger ecosystem,” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, chief executive officer of Flipkart Group. Kalyan Krishnamurthy also added that the platform created 1 lakh new job opportunities across their supply chain, including fulfilment centres and delivery hubs.

On the other hand, the Amazon Great Indian Festival sale is also underway. Amazon earlier said that it generated a record 95 million customer visits in 48 hours. Amazon also added that Prime members shopped 18 times more in the first 24 hours of Prime Early Access (PEA) compared to average daily purchases.
