Ola Electric Taps EY India To Keep Pace

India’s leading electric scooter manufacturer Ola Electric which often made headlines for its lousy service and poor quality has joined forces with EY India, a consulting firm which faces controversies surrounding toxic work culture, to improve the former’s quality and service standards. As per reports, this strategic partnership is a step to address the company’s recent struggles with scooter quality and customer satisfaction.

Ola Electric has faced intense scrutiny over the past year due to numerous customer complaints regarding scooter quality, software glitches and hardware issues. The company’s sales have declined significantly with volumes dropping by almost 25% in the first half of this fiscal year.  Ola Electric has now brought in EY India to streamline its business processes, inventory management and on-ground presence to combat these challenges. When it comes to EY (Ernst & Young) the firm has become controversial after one of its employees committed suicide due to a toxic work culture.

According to the reports, a team of 12 EY India executives will work closely with Ola Electric’s management to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions. The partnership’s primary objectives include enhancing the availability of spare parts that may improve service quality and expanding the company’s service network. Ola Electric plans to increase its service centres from 400 to 1,000 by the end of 2024, as per CEO Bhavish Aggarwal.

Bhavish Aggarwal also stated that the company acknowledges the need for significant improvements in its service quality and is committed to regaining customer trust. He said “Great to see customers continuing to shift towards EVs from ICE, We’re also working overtime to scale up our service capacity. More updates over coming weeks.”
