As the UAE is all set to start the amnesty, the official pardon, for the visa norm violators and illegal residents, starting from September 1, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) today said that the Emirate would offer discounted flight tickets to the visa overstayers who take advantage of the country’s amnesty.
The authorities have communicated with UAE airlines, including Emirates, Etihad, and Air Arabia, to provide reduced airfare to those illegal residents who want to leave the country and have financial crises, Khaleej Times reported, quoting Maj-Gen Obaid Mohair bin Suroor, deputy director-general of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai.

The amnesty program announced by the country will start on September 1 and last until October 30. During the grace period, the visa rules violators, including the tourist visas and the residency visas, and those who have fled from their sponsors can apply for the correction of their visa status without a fine being imposed upon them. Those who want to leave the country can exit without legal restrictions, and they are also assured that they would not get a return travel ban anytime with a proper visa. Notably, those who entered the Emirates illegally are excluded from persons eligible to apply for the amnesty.
It is reported that the ICP has conducted several meetings with airline representatives to negotiate cutting ticket prices, and the flight operators have reportedly responded positively. Those who opt to leave the country would be given an exit pass or permit. The pass will be valid for 14 days, and the violators can exit the country with no return ban on their passport.

However, it is important to note that if the visa violators have not departed the country after the 14 days since the exit pass was issued, all the previous dues, fines, and restrictions will be reimposed upon them.
