The state-owned fuel retailers are reportedly struggling with increased global energy costs due to disruptions in oil flow triggered by the US-Israel war on Iran. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the attacks on key energy facilities have made things worse, leading to a hike in crude oil prices. The price of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi will rise to Rs 942 from Rs 913.

Due to the global crisis, Oil companies continue to sell petrol and diesel below cost, incurring losses of around Rs 11 per litre on petrol and Rs 33.6 per litre on diesel, according to the reports.
