Google Pay India has signed an Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to expand its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) limit for people outside India. The new step will help Indians in foreign countries to make UPI transactions from there. Indian travellers outside India can now make payments using Google Pay. It can also help to eliminate the need to carry cash or depend on any other international payment systems to make their payments. The drive also aims to introduce UPI-like digital payment systems in other countries to provide a seamless financial transaction experience.
According to Deeksha Kaushal Director of Partnerships, Google Pay India, through their collaboration, the company is happy to support NIPL towards expanding the reach of UPI to the international market. “We are delighted to support NIPL towards expanding the reach of UPI to international markets. Google Pay has been a proud and willing collaborator to NPCI and the financial ecosystem, under the regulator’s guidance, and this collaboration is another step towards our commitment to making payments simple, safe and convenient,” Deeksha Kaushal said.
The director also said that the UPI showed the global community the change that the interoperable and population-scale digital infrastructure introduction brought to the economies. As per the report, the partnership will also make the remittance between the counties easier by utilising the existing Unified Payment Interface (UPI) infrastructure.
In addition, the partnership will also help make foreign business access to Indian customers easier, while speeding up the rise of UPI transactions. The MoU, however, intends to ease doing business with the introduction of UPI’s cross-border interoperability.
