Elliott Hill’s career at Nike is the stuff of corporate dreams. Starting as an intern in 1988, Hill worked his way through 19 roles within the company before retiring in 2020 as President of Consumer and Marketplace. Now, after a four-year hiatus, he’s returning to lead the sportswear giant as its President and CEO in October 2024.
Social media is buzzing with reactions to Hill’s impressive rise. One X user remarked, “Nike’s new CEO may have the best LinkedIn profile ever — 32 years with the same company, from intern to CEO!”
Nike’s Executive Chairman, Mark Parker, expressed confidence in Hill’s leadership. “Elliott’s global expertise, passion for our products and consumers, and leadership style make him the perfect choice to guide Nike’s next phase of growth,” Parker said in a statement. He added that Hill’s return would ensure the company’s future success in the ever-evolving marketplace.
Hill himself couldn’t hide his excitement about rejoining the company that has been such a major part of his life. “Nike has always been a core part of who I am. I’m eager to help lead it into an even brighter future,” Hill shared. His experience in growing the business to over $39 billion and his leadership across Europe and North America make him a natural fit for the role.
Current CEO John Donahoe will step down on October 13, 2024, but will remain on as an advisor until January 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
From intern to CEO, Elliott Hill’s return to Nike marks the next chapter in an extraordinary career.
