IndiGo’s Parent Company InterGlobe Is Executing A Bold Hospitality Vision: Here’s Why It Matters.
InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of IndiGo Airlines, India’s largest and most successful airline, is making a major foray into the hospitality sector, planning to develop 300 hotels across India in the next five years.
Backed by powerful partnerships and a clear vision, the company is set to become a serious force in the hotel industry, creating what it calls “India’s fastest growing hospitality enterprise.”

This is said to be a calculated empire-building strategy that connects air travel, hotel stays, and customer loyalty, all under one seamless ecosystem.
Here’s an in-depth look at how InterGlobe is executing this ambitious vision, and why it matters.
On April 9, 2025, InterGlobe Enterprises officially announced its venture into the hotel space. The company revealed plans to build 300 hotels by 2030, in partnership with Accor, the French multinational known for managing brands like Ibis, Mercure, Novotel, and Pullman.
Accor already operates 71 hotels in India, with 40 more in the pipeline. This new partnership is more than just an expansion, but it’s the creation of a new entity that will oversee and drive growth for Accor brands in India.
This entity will bring together InterGlobe’s local expertise and Accor’s global hospitality acumen, blending international service standards with deep market understanding.
As part of this big hospitality push, InterGlobe is also making a significant investment in Treebo, one of India’s leading budget hotel chains.
Founded in 2015, Treebo currently manages around 800 hotels across 120 cities, making it a strong player in the budget and mid-scale segment, and a perfect partner for rapid, scalable expansion.
Treebo will take the lead role in developing Ibis and Mercure hotels in India under a master license agreement.
It has already signed deals for 10 new Mercure properties and will be central to growing Accor’s footprint in India’s unbranded hotel market.
Together, the Accor-Treebo-InterGlobe alliance is expected to become the third-largest hospitality player in India, aiming to manage over 30,000 rooms by 2030. That number is a game-changer in a fragmented and highly competitive hospitality market.
This movie is basically about creating a fully integrated travel and hospitality ecosystem. InterGlobe is already a giant in aviation through IndiGo, which flew 118 million passengers last year with a fleet of over 400 aircraft.
The goal now is to connect that network to a vast hotel chain, supported by technology, loyalty programs, and customer convenience.

Here’s what’s coming:
-
IndiGo’s new BluChip program (launched in late 2024) will now be linked to ALL – Accor Live Limitless, allowing travellers to earn and redeem points across flights and hotel stays. This opens up massive value for frequent travellers.
-
The new entity will combine InterGlobe’s InterGlobe Hotels business and Accor’s India operations into a single autonomous platform to streamline hotel development, branding, and customer experience.
-
Treebo’s robust distribution and tech systems will support efficient onboarding and management of properties, especially in the budget-to-midscale range.
Rahul Bhatia, Group MD of InterGlobe Enterprises, emphasised that this is more than just business. “We aim to redefine the hospitality experience by offering exceptional value to our guests and setting new standards for excellence in the industry,” he said to the media. Bhatia also called the partnership with Accor a natural next step in their two-decade-long relationship, leveraging both companies’ strengths.
Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO of Accor, called this a “transformative moment” for Accor in India. He sees the partnership as a way to unlock India’s “unprecedented growth potential” in travel and hospitality, especially by combining global hospitality standards with local entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said that this strategy enhances IndiGo’s loyalty ecosystem. Over 2 million people have already enrolled in the airline’s BluChip program, and this partnership aims to deliver even more value to them.
The vision is to build a unified travel ecosystem that could bring seamless bookings across flights and hotels, loyalty rewards that work both in the air and on the ground, or branded, quality stays even in Tier 2 & 3 cities, and better customer service, powered by global standards and smart tech.
