OPEC+ Countries Raises Oil Production Quota After UAE’s Shock Exit

After the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s shock withdrawal from the OPEC and OPEC+ alliance, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries reportedly increased their oil production quota on Sunday, May 3.

Aimed at demonstrating continuity at the cartel after the unexpected UAE exit, the alliance, formed in 2016 which includes several non-OPEC oil-producing nations, notably Russia, designed to control global oil supply and influence prices, did not mention the UAE, which withdrew from it this week.
