Edtech major Byju’s Senior Vice President, Cherian Thomas, has left the firm to join US based Impending Inc. as its Chief Executive Officer.

He was part of Byju’s from 2017, the first international employee and has been responsible for its operations in the US. He was also responsible for Osmo, a Byju’s educational gaming subsidiary which stood at over $100 million in 2021, reported BQ Prime.

Impending Inc. is the innovative firm behind many popular apps, like Heads up, Clear and Classic, also known for the unique user experience through innovations like, swipe to complete, flip to change and pinch to insert.

Thomas is expected to make a substantial change with his background, strategic acumen and proficiency in operations. His new role would be to look into reinforcing global talent pool and on expanding and scaling the portfolio of the product. “Impending embodies everything I would pursue if I were to start anew”, Thomas said on his new capacity, reported the Business Standard.

Before joining Byju’s he has been part of co-founding Cucumbertown, a startup, a platform on food blogging, which was later sold to a Japanese conglomerate Cookpad in 2015. He was also part of Zynga, a gaming platform.

“We share a vision of creating inspired apps with the potential to become pop culture phenomena, without compromise. We are committed to making this vision a reality together,” said Phill Ryu, Co-founder of Impending Inc., on Thomas”s appointment, reported the Business Standard.

Impending Inc. has brought out Apple focused apps, for Mac from early 2000s. They have recently launched Web Roulette which is an app that allows browsing popular websites.
