A recent video featuring Bill Gates has sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with accusations of neo-colonial attitudes towards India. The clip, taken from a conversation on Reid Hoffman’s Possible podcast, shows Gates describing India as a “laboratory” for piloting innovative projects that could be adapted elsewhere. In the video, he acknowledges the country’s complexities in health, nutrition, and education while praising its vibrancy and potential for transformative change over the next 20 years.
“India is an example of a country where there’s plenty of things that are difficult there. Health, nutrition, education…is improving and they are stable enough and generating their own government revenue enough… it’s very likely that 20 years from now people will be dramatically better off and it’s kind of a laboratory to try things that… when you prove them out in India, you can take to other places. So, our biggest non-US office for the Foundation is in India and most number of pilot rollout things we’re doing anywhere in the world are with partners in India,” he told Reid Hoffman.
Bill Gates thinks India is kind of a laboratory. Racist and pure evil.
The government should arrest him next time he visits India.

Social media users reacted strongly. One platform user wrote: “Bill Gates thinks India is kind of a laboratory. Racist and pure evil. The government should arrest him next time he visits India.” Another commented sarcastically, “The newest colonial update is ready to install. Restart now.” A third claimed, “Indians are being used as guinea pigs for his experiments because the Modi government doesn’t value the lives of its citizens.”

This controversy is the latest in a series of allegations against Gates and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). The foundation has previously faced criticism in India over alleged unethical practices during clinical trials of HPV vaccines, which reportedly targeted vulnerable groups without adequate informed consent. This has raised concerns about the treatment of developing nations as testing grounds for global health initiatives.
🚨 SHOCKING!
Bill Gates says he uses India as a ‘laboratory’ to prove things and get them to the US.
So basically Indians are being used as Guinea Pigs for his experiments because the Modi Govt doesn’t value the lives of its citizens.

Globally, BMGF’s role in COVID-19 vaccination efforts also drew backlash. Critics argue the foundation prioritised profits over equitable vaccine access, initially opposing intellectual property waivers for developing countries. Meanwhile, Gates is facing a lawsuit in the Netherlands over alleged misleading promotion of vaccines.
In India, farmer protests have linked Gates-backed agricultural reforms to data exploitation and corporate monopolisation, further fuelling scepticism. Critics argue these initiatives disproportionately benefit large corporations while marginalising small-scale farmers.
