Who could be atop the richest people of Asia list? Well, for the first place, no prizes for guessing – as on August 2023, Asia’s richest is Mukesh Ambani, with his net worth placed at $96.4 billion. Only two Indians, Mr Ambani and Gautam Adani figures in the list with the other places being taken up by China, Japan and Hong Kong. China tops the list with majority of 5 richest from the country. ZHANG YIMING, the force behind China’s tech giant, ByteDance, and most popular TikTok, Mr. Yiming, aged 39, is the third richest Asian. His net worth is $39.1 billion and he resides in Beijing, China. TikTok counted up to more than 1 billion users worldwide until it was banned by some countries. ByteDance has diverse segments – news, education and gaming.
LI KA SHING, 95-year old, began his journey with Cheung Kong Plastics which was named after China’s Yangtze River, with savings and loans in 1950. His net worth stands at $37.8 billion which is derived from diversified and self-made sources.
