Wipro Files Lawsuit Against Former CFO Jatin Dalal

Wipro has filed a lawsuit against its former CFO, Jatin Dalal, on unknown grounds, prompting Dalal to apply to refer the matter to arbitration, the Times of India reported.  After hearing the arguments of both parties, the court decided to consider the matter on January 3, when the court will adjudge whether the matter should be referred to arbitration, the report said.

In arbitration, instead of a judicial court, an arbitrator will hear both parties to find an amicable solution, and this is a widely accepted method when it comes to an employment dispute.

Dalal is currently helming at Cognizant, where he joined on December 1 as CFO. The Court first heard the case on November 28 before Dalal filed an application under Section 8 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 to get the case directed to arbitration. Wipro and Cognizant have not responded to the queries.

Dalal had served Wipro as CFO since 2015 and assumed additional responsibilities as president in 2019. At Cognizant, he reports to CEO Ravi Kumar.

Wipro had recently filed a complaint against Mohd Haque, its former senior vice president (SVP) and head of healthcare and medical devices for the Americas, who joined Wipro”s direct rival Cognizant as the SVP and business unit head for life sciences, accusing him of uploading “seven files” from his personal Gmail account, which is, according to Wipro, a violation of non-compete covenants.
