New Delhi: Amid thick smog and high pollution in the City, Delhi CM Atishi has announced the online classes for all the primary schools of Delhi, until further notice. Since October 30, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained very poor. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported the city’s Average AQI at 432.

The government has banned non-essential construction in the city and urged residents to avoid coal burning for heating. The measures to combat the poor air quality include sprinkling water with dust suppressants on roads and mechanized sweeping.
Out of the 39 monitoring stations in Delhi, 21 registered severe AQI with four categories as ‘severe plus’. Jahangirpuri, Bawana, Wazirpus, and Rohini experienced high pollution rates with AQI levels at 458, 455, 455, and 452 respectively.
Air quality in Northern India has reached the lowest level with toxic smog that has obscured the visibility of the Taj Mahal and Golden Temple in Amritsar.
