BJP Forcefully Shuts Down Schools Today: Mahua Moitra Shares On X

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a 12-hour Bangla Bandh on August 28 from 6 am to 6 pm, in a protest against police brutality towards students who were protesting for justice in the RG Kar rape and murder case of a trainee doctor. The student protest turned violent after clashes broke out between the police and the demonstrators during the Nabanna Abhijan March in Kolkata and Howrah.

The All India Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra tweeted on X account that the BJP is forcefully shutting down schools, however, there was no official announcement on school closure for August 28.

In the tweet shared by TMC MP 3 men are visibly attempting closing the school gate and putting the BJP flag on the closed gate. However, the name of the school is not visible in the video clip.

The BJP Bengal has called for the Bangla Bandh to protest the police actions against the students, however, the leaders refused to their involvement in the student rally. The Nabanna Abhijan is a student and youth-led protest movement in West Bengal. Nabanna Abhijan is referred to here as ‘March to Nabbana’ means towards the state secretariat in Howrah. Over the years, the movement had witnessed several iterations involving clashes with police.

On August 27, the Paschim Banga Chhatra Samaj and the Sangrami Joutha Mancha organized the Nabanna Abhijan protest and demanded the resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee over the RG Kar hospital rape and murder case.
