Chirag Paswan Appeals Nitish Kumar Amid Ongoing BPSC Aspirant's Protest

Union Minister Chirag Paswan urged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to intervene immediately in the ongoing BPSC candidate protest. The candidates are protesting in Patna to cancel the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13.

While writing on X, Chirag Paswan appealed to the Bihar government and CM Nitish Kumar for the immediate intervention. He furter added, “As a result of the which the Chief Secretary (who is the highest official of the government) on behalf of the government has started the process of dialogue with the candidates and students.

Soon the fruitful results of this initiative will be seen. This is the result of our government’s positive thinking and sensitivity towards the students”.

Praising the state government’s efforts, the Union Minister said that the issue should be resolve peacefully and without political interference.

He also condemned the police actions of lathi charge and use of water cannons on protesting candidates and called for restraint from the police and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the student’s demands. Also, Paswan demanded legal action against officers responsible for excessive force.

On Sunday, Bihar Police lathi-charged and used water cannon to disperse the proetesting aspirants in Gandhi Maidan.

Following the incident, Bihar Police registered an FIR against 600-700 individuals for unauthorised gatherings, instigating people and creating law and order issues in Gandhi Maindan.

The police administration said that the Jan Suraaj Party, a student organization was denied permission to organize Chhatra Sansad in front of the Gandhi statue. The crowd allegedly broke the loudspeakers installed by the administration. Despite repeated requests, these people violated the guidelines of the administration and disrupted public order. Therefor, the administration had to assert police force and water cannons.

Notably, the opposition condemned the police administration for using the force against the protesting candidates.

Whereas aspirants are demanding the cancellation of the exam held on December 13, the BPSC has firmly said that the paper will not be cancelled.
