Class 12 Topper In Bhopal Runs Away To Pursue IAS Dream

A Bhopal Class 12 topper, Sakshi, ran away from her house in January 2025 to pursue her dream of becoming an IAS officer, while her family was forcing her into marriage. Her father has filed a habeas corpus petition, leading police to trace Sakshi to Indor, where she was working to fulfill her dream.

The High Court has intervened, reprimanding the parents and advising Sakshi to return home. The final ruling on her living arrangements is scheduled for November 12.

The girl, identified as Sakshi, topped in class 12th with 92 percent marks and dreamt of becoming an IAS officer, but her family wanted her to stop studying and marry a person of their choosing. As family pressure grew, Sakshi left home in January and went to Indore.

Investigators found a note with her friend’s reading, “I will return home as an IAS officer in 2030”.

The police searched coaching centres, colleges, and libraries across the country. The case took a turn when Sakshi updated her Aadhar card, which confirmed she had become an adult.

The Aadhaar update helped police to trace Sakshi to Indore, where she was found living in a rented room and working a job earning Rs 18000 a month after a brief stay in Lalitpur.
