The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced September 14 as the last date for free Aadhar details updates. Once the deadline ends, the applicants will then have to pay Rs. 50 for any updates.
The individuals who were provided with the identification card more than 10 years ago and never updated were recommended to submit proof of identity and proof of address documents for revalidation.

Aadhaar authentication is a process by which the Aadhar number along with demographic information or biometric information is submitted to UIDAI’s Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) for verification.
The UIDAI will verify the correctness of the details submitted on the basis of the information available.
Here are the steps to be followed to update Aadhar online:
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website.
Step 2: Log in using the Aadhar card number and type in the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the phone number linked to the card.
Step 3: Review the identity and address details in your profile.
Step 4: If any update is needed for, select the appropriate document type from the drop-down menu.
Step 5: Upload the selected documents while ensuring that each file is less than 2 MB in size and in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format.
Step 6: Review and submit to update your Aadhar details.

As per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulation, 2016, individuals must update their POI and POA documents every ten years from their Aadhaar enrolment date. This requirement also applies to updating a child’s biometric details on their Blue Aadhar card ages 5 and 15.
The online process is available for updating address details, but for changes to biometric information, name, mobile number, or photograph, one will have to visit a UIDAI-authorised center.
