The national award-winning Bollywood film director Hansal Mehta lashed out at government employees for delaying his daughter’s Aadhaar registration even after visiting government offices multiple times. In his recent post on X, he stated that his daughter Kimaya Mehta was constantly trying to register for her Aadhaar ID for the past 3 weeks as she took a long trek to visit the office despite heavy rain. The senior officer sends her back asking her to submit various documents or the other every single time.
My daughter has been trying to apply for an Aadhaar card for the past 3 weeks. She makes the long trek to the Aadhar office in Andheri East braving rains, and going early enough and the senior manager there keeps sending her back on some pretext or the other. Get this signed, get this…

He stated that the irresponsible attitude of officials is nothing but deliberate harassment. He also tagged the official account of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) seeking attention to this matter.

Later, UIDAI reacted to the post and asked Mehta to provide details regarding the issue and to share the complete address of the Aadhaar centre where his daughter confronted this issue along with his contact details.
Dear Aadhaar Number Holder, Kindly share the complete address of the Aadhaar Centre where you are facing this issue along with your contact details via direct message and we will help you further. @ceo_uidai @UIDAI

A user reacted to the post saying that if his daughter is going to apply for the first time, she will take forever to complete the process. Another profile stated that the life of a common man is not easy in India as it is inexplicable and cumbersome because of the corrupt ecosystem.
Everywhere in India, it’s the same story – getting ur Aadhar card as an adult is nothing but harassment. Applied in March – I still have not got it!

On the other hand, another user said that things have changed since 2023. If it’s a fresh/new application, the applicant has to visit the district collector/magistrate’s office to complete the process. Hansal Mehta is known for his honest opinions which often take to X on various topics. He is currently gearing up to release his next directorial feature starring Kareen Kapoor, in September.
