The Indian government has launched a new app designed to secure the way Aadhaar details are verified and shared digitally.

This new mobile application claims to enhance user privacy, simplify the Aadhaar verification process, and provide greater control to citizens over their data.

The newly launched Aadhaar app introduces several features aimed at improving user convenience. The most notable of these is the FaceID authentication system, allowing users to verify their Aadhaar details using just their face and mobile device.
This eliminates the need to carry a physical Aadhaar card or submit photocopies, streamlining the verification process for users in a secure manner.
The app is currently in beta testing and is available for early adopters, including those who participated in the Aadhaar Samvaad event.
According to the government, this app ensures that users can digitally verify their identity and share only the necessary details required for accessing various services.
This tech-forward approach gives users full control over what personal information they wish to share, enhancing both convenience and privacy.
Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted that the app allows Aadhaar holders to securely share their details without exposing unnecessary information.

The app uses QR code scanning or a requesting application to ensure that users’ data remains private and protected. “The app makes Aadhaar verification as easy as making UPI payments,” said Ashwini Vaishnav.
The app also includes a unique feature that allows users to decide how much information they want to share.
For those who may have misplaced their Aadhaar card or are unable to carry a physical copy, the app’s Face ID authentication offers a convenient alternative.
Whether you’re traveling or at home, this feature ensures that users can authenticate their identity effortlessly, using only their smartphone and facial recognition technology.
The app has been designed with the goal of reducing the reliance on physical documents and photocopies, which often create inconvenience and security concerns.
UIDAI, the agency behind Aadhaar, has assured that based on user feedback and ecosystem partner inputs, the app will undergo further enhancements. The government plans to make the app available to the general public in the coming days.
UIDAI’s technology center has also demonstrated how the app can securely verify identities through QR code scanning or using a requesting application, ensuring that all interactions remain secure and private.
