Delhi University Students Hold Protest Against Fee Hike, FYUP, HEFA Loan At Campus
Today, the student of Delhi University organised a protest at the university campus to register their strong opposition against the rising fees of both UG and PG courses in DU. This follows a trend wherein a 20% fee hike can be observed across courses. This also goes against the mandated 10% per year.
As per the students, as the new sessions begin soon, the DU admin has consistently failed for yet another year in rectifying the ills within the Four Year Undergraduate Program(FYUP) system. Lakhs of students have maintained their position against FYUP and declared it to be anti-student, but the admin refuses to take any initiative in this regard. “The demonstration today called for an even bigger mobilisation in the coming days,” said Sohan Yadav, SFI DU activist.

Another big demand was to revoke HEFA loans by the university and ensure a transparent process for public funding of Universities. As per the student body SFI, the loan taken by DU is a blatant effort to push for privatisation of this academic space that the ABVP-BJP-RSS has been rallying around for years.
The students who gathered at Arts Faculty made sure to let the admin know that the destruction of our academic space will not be allowed to happen with impunity.
