
Delhi University To Start PG In Hindi Journalism
On the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, the Delhi University’s Standing Committee on Academic Matters has approved the introduction of a master’s programme in journalism in the Hindi medium. As per the official information, the course is set to commence from the 2025-26 academic session.
The newly approved course will be offered under the Department of Hindi, Faculty of Arts. It is designed in alignment with the university’s postgraduate curriculum framework.

However, the course will be implemented once it gets a final nod from the Academic Council.
Notably, Hindi Journalism Day is celebrated on May 30 every year, marking the publication of ‘Udant Martand’ in 1826 – the first Hindi language newspaper in India, highlighting the significant role of journalism as the fourth pillar of democracy.

Several universities across India offer Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programs in Hindi Journalism. These include the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University, and Punjabi University, Patiala. Other universities offering similar programs include Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication and Aligarh Muslim University.
