The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) launched the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series with an inaugural talk of IIMA’s PGP 1985 alumnus Harsh Bhogle, who is an iconic voice of Indian cricket and a journalist.
The IIMA alumnus interacted with the audience in Ravi J Mathai Auditorium and shared some of the most inspiring gems and anecdotes from his life and experience that are also part of his book “The Winning Way – Learnings from Sport for Managers”.
Bhogle encouraged the young generation to believe in themselves irrespective of the days of lower self-esteem and low confidence. While sharing his personal experience during his initial career days, the IIMA alumnus said that the easiest thing to do is to be obsessed with what one can not do. He said, “You may spend your lives thinking about who you are not and often you are defined by that, but some days you get a realization that for all the things you cannot do, there is always something that you can do, and you must focus on that. Do not let what you cannot do come in the way of what you can do. Fight your weaknesses and try to find things that you can do because determination is far stronger than talent. Work hard and give your 100% to the work you are doing even when nobody is watching. If you have prepared well in advance, you will be ready when the opportunity comes knocking.”
