The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the registration process dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. The online applications will start from August 24, 2024, and will take place till September 26, 2024. The registration will be processed with a late fee till October 7, 2024.

This year’s GATE 2025 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 for admission to various postgraduate engineering programs. The GATE is a nationwide test to assess candidates’ knowledge in different undergraduate-level disciplines. Those who qualify for the exam can pursue Master’s and Doctoral programs with potential financial support as the GATE score is considered by the educational institutions for admissions. It is also considered by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for the recruitment process.

The GATE exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across the centers distributed into eight zones. The GATE 2025 will consist of 30 papers, and candidates are required to choose one or two test papers out of the permissible combinations. The exam duration is 3 hours. The GATE scorecard remains valid for 3 years after the date of the result announcement.

The exam contains negative marking and 1/3 mark is deducted from a question carrying 1 mark. For a 2-mark question, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

Candidates must ensure the eligibility criteria for GATE 2025 before applying for the exam. Those who are studying in their third year or final year of an undergraduate degree program or who have completed any government-approved degree including Engineering, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Humanities, and others are eligible to appear for the GATE exam.
