Jamia Millia Islamia Signs MoU With Hanyang University Republic of Korea

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) entered into an academic and research collaboration with Hanyang University, Republic of Korea. The collaboration shall provide opportunity to develop programs, hold seminars and exchange visits of faculty as well as students. The academic interaction and intellectual assimilation would also lead to synergise joint research, cultural events and workshops.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ki-Jeong Lee, President, Hanyang University expressed his optimism that this collaboration will strengthen bonds between the two universities through furtherance in education and research.

Hanyang University (HYU) is a prestigious private research university in South Korea, with its main campus in Seoul and a second campus, ERICA (Education Research Industry Cluster at Ansan), in Ansan. Founded in 1939 as the Dong-A Engineering Institute, it was the country’s first institution to offer engineering and architecture programs.

Known for its strong emphasis on STEM fields, HYU has grown into a leading university, enrolling over 3,000 international students annually and sending more than 3,300 students abroad each year. The university operates 15 colleges and 60 departments in Seoul and 9 colleges and 42 departments at ERICA, offering a wide range of programs beyond engineering, including business, medicine, and humanities. Its motto, “Love in Deed and Truth,” reflects its mission to foster practical education and societal contribution.

The MoU was signed by the Registrar JMI, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi and Dr. Ki-Jeong Lee, President, Hanyang University in the presence of Dr. Hansung Kim, Vice President of Office of International Affairs, HYU, and Prof. Shahid Tasleem, HoD, Department of Foreign Languages JMI. The ceremony was attended by representatives from HYU and Deans as well as senior officials of JMI.

Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia shared the key highlights of the university. Established in 1920, Jamia Millia Islamia is a comprehensive research-intensive Central (Public) University. JMI is ranked at 3rd position in the country amongst universities in NIRF rankings issued by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
