Ranked 20th globally, Jawahar Lal Nehru University has emerged as the top university in India for Development Studies and is a recent addition to this field. Additionally, the university also ranked 11th in academic reputation. This is the 14th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024. It highlights the substantial progress of universities in the academic domain.
This year a total of 69 Indian universities were made into the list. Universities either showed improvement or have maintained their positions on the list. As per the ranking, the next two highest-ranked universities are Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (deemed to be a university), which came in at number 24 in the world for dentistry and is the only Indian university to receive a perfect score (100/100) in one of the QS indicators, specifically the H Index, which ranks first in this metric. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) – Ahmedabad debuted in the 22nd position for Business & Management Studies.
Six Indian universities have been spotted among the world’s top 10 for employer reputation in specific subjects including Symbiosis International, IIT Bombay, and IIT Madras among others. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research is the top Indian institution in terms of research effect in the field of pharmacy and pharmacology, ranking remarkably high at 64th position.
The Indian School of Business (ISB), which is ranked between 150 and 200 in the world in the field of business and management studies, is ranked 15th in the field for Citations per Paper highlights the significance and influence of ISB on business research.
OP Jindal Global University has made significant strides this year by rising to the 74th position globally in Law. Additionally, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Amity University have made impressive debuts in the global rankings.
India ranks fourth in terms of total ranked entries (454), behind China (1041), Japan (510), and South Korea (499), and it is the second-most featured country (69 universities) in the larger Asian regional context, only behind Mainland China (101).
