Mother Theresa Memorial Central School (MTM Central School) in Pulippara, Pangode of Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, said some minor mistakes from the school led to the CBSE disaffiliation and they are working with the national board to resolve the issue. The school’s name was featured among 20 schools when Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a list of disaffiliated on Friday. Apart from MTM Central School, Peevees Public School, Malappuram, was also in the CBSE list released yesterday.

According to a school official, the CBSE conducted a random inspection last year and based on that the school has been disaffiliated.

The official told Timeline that the comments from the Board included: “Class 12 attendance register was not updated fully, class time table was not provided, acquaintance register was not updated fully and no lab register”.

“Such minor mistakes led to this unfortunate incident. We are working on this CBSE order and hope to resolve it soon,” the official told Timeline on behalf of the school management committee.

According to the Board, it held surprise inspections, it was found that some schools were committing various malpractices of presenting dummy students, ineligible candidates and not maintained records properly.

CBSE conducted these inspections to check whether the affiliated schools are running as per the provisions and norms contained in Affiliation and Examination Bye-laws of the national education board.

According to a statement from CBSE, after these inspections and thorough inquiry, Board has decided to disaffiliate 20 schools.
