NEET-UG Exam Racket Emerged In Godhra, Rs 10 Lakh Each Demanded To Solve Paper

Amid the NEET-UG exam paper leak rumors, a new incident has unfolded in Godra, in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district. A racket has emerged involving 3 people in the alleged malpractice during the NEET-UG exam conducted on May 5, 2024. The district collector received information of some wrongdoing in the Godhra schools designated as a center for the medical entrance examination. The district education officer has filed an FIR against the 3 accused for promising six candidates to solve the papers for a sum of Rs 10 lakh each, police said.

According to reports, six students in the exam room were asked to leave the answer sheets blank after solving the paper. A teacher named Tushar Bhatt, the deputy superintendent of the exam center, was to solve the paper allegedly once the sheets were collected. As per the FIR lodged at Godhra taluka police station, Bhatt works as a teacher at Jay Jalaram School and was appointed as the superintendent of the school for the NEET exam in the city.

After receiving information the district additional collector and district education officer reached the school on the day of the examination and questioned Turshar Bhatt. The team obtained a list of 16 candidates with their names, roll numbers, and exam centers from the accused. After investigation, Bhatt said that the list contains information on candidates appearing in the centre. He also confessed to receiving Rs 10 lakh each to solve the question for six candidates.

The investigation team seized the teacher’s mobile phone and the car from where cash of Rs 7 lakh was recovered. Bhutt said that he received the cash as an advance by those who recruited him for the alleged cheating case. He said that the candidates were instructed to solve the questions they knew and leave the rest of the paper blank. The remaining answers were to be filled once the sheets were collected after the exam.

A criminal case has been registered against the teacher Tushar Bhatt and two others – Parsuram Roy and Arif Vora – for their involvement in the cheating, breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy, at Godhra taluka police station. Further investigation is underway, said the police official.

Notably, there were rumors that NEET-UG paper was leaked as there was instance of the incorrect distribution of the question paper. NTA said that it came to the attention of the Agency that at one examination center in Sawai Madhopur, there was an incident of incorrect distribution of question papers by the Center Superintendent.
