NIRF Ranking 2024: IISc Bengaluru Top University; Check List

The Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru has once again taken the top rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 as the top university in India. Closely following behind is Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Milia Islamia in the second and third rank, respectively.

The Ministry of Education has released the NIRF rankings in 16 categories including Overall, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, Management and others today.

  1. Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru
  2. Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
  3. Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
  4. Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal
  5. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
  6. University of Delhi, New Delhi
  7. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore
  8. Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh
  9. Jadavpur University, Kolkata
  10. Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore

The top three universities – IISc, JNU, JMI – maintained their ranks this year as well.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education rose in ranks from the sixth in 2023 to the fourth position this year. Jadavpur University has dropped from the fourth rank last year to the ninth place this time.

From coming 11th in 2023, the University of Delhi ranked in the sixth position this time.

A core committee constructed the methodology for ranking institutes set up by the MHRD to identify the broad parameters for ranking various institutes and universities. The institutes are ranked on parameters such as teaching, learning, resources, research and professional practice, outreach and inclusivity, graduation outcome and perception.
