As per the data provided by the government, around 21600 female students have received scholarship amounting to Rs 5841.08 lakh under the Vigyan Jyoti Programme, since 2020. Girls in Class 12 are eligible for a one-year scholarship under the Vigyan Jyoti Program.

An innovative program called “Vigyan Jyoti” was launched in 2020 with the goal of inspiring deserving females to choose careers in underrepresented STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

Under this program, students in Classes 9–12 from 250 districts around the nation are enrolled. Under this program, a variety of year-round activities are carried out, such as science camps, industry visits, tinkering activities, parent-student counselling, career counselling, special academic sessions, and role model contacts.

The Department of Science and Technology is putting into practice a comprehensive initiative called Women in Science and Engineering-KIRAN (WISE-KIRAN) to give women in the Science & Technology (S&T) field a variety of opportunities through various programs.

These include the Women Scientists Scheme, which supports female scientists who took a career break, the WISE Fellowship for PhD (WISE-PhD), the WISE-Post Doctoral Fellowship (WISE-PDF), the WISE-SCOPE program, which uses science and technology to address societal challenges, and WIDUSHI, which helps senior women scientists continue their scientific careers.

“WISE Internship in IPR (WISE IPR)” is another government program that offers instruction in the area of intellectual property rights. Similarly, support has been provided to develop cutting-edge research facilities in 18 women”s postgraduate colleges and 2 women”s universities under the CURIE (Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence) Program.
