Tata Trusts Scholarship provides a range of scholarships and grants to deserving Indian students to continue their education overseas. These scholarships are available to pursue education at various levels. Not just the students willing to seek higher education abroad but students studying in India can also apply for the financial aid given by the Tata Trusts.
Tata Cornell Scholarship
The Tata Education and Development Trust, has established a $25 million endowment to assist bright Indian students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Under this Cornell University provides financial support to Indian students enrolled in undergraduate programs. Up to 20 students can receive financial aid through the Tata Scholarships.
To avail of this scholarship, a student must be a citizen of India. It covers all costs of their undergraduate studies at Cornell University. Notably, up to eight semesters can be funded by this scholarship.
Scholarships for J.N. Tata Endowment Loans
This scholarship allows Indian students to finance their studies with low-interest loan. Students willing to pursue postgraduate, PhD or post-doc studies at any foreign university would benefit from this grant.
To apply for this scholarship a candidate must be under 45 and an Indian citizen. Applicants recieve a grant for travel expenses of Rs 50,000 and a gift of nearly Rs 75,000 and a loan up to Rs 10 lakh. If the borrower return the money within the time stipulated. the lender may decide to not to charge interest.
Professional Enhancement Grants
Candidates who wish to improve their professional skills can apply for travel grants via the Tata Trust Professioanl Enhancement Grant. Those who qualify will be granted the opportunity to participate in workshops and training programs in India and abroad.
The applicant must be the citizen of India and the grant will cover registration fees, lodging, transportation and visa applications.
Lady Meherbai D. Tata Scholarship
This scholarship is especially offered by the Tata Trusts to female students. It provides financial support for female candidates seeking advanced degrees in gender studies, public health, child care, rural development, social sciences and other international fields.
Applicants must intend to pursue their studies in Europe, US and the UK. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience is required. Selected students receive rewards of up to Rs 6 lakh.
Tata Trusts Means Grant
This grant is specifically dedicated to the students studying in Mumbai and its suburbs. Under the scholarship partial financial assistance is provided to students. School going students of class VIII and college students up to the level of graduation can avail this grant.
Civil Aviation Scholarship
Students who wish to get commercial pilot license can avail this scholarship. This also covers type rating for students who have obtained their flying license for flying any type of aircraft. Students seeking a flying course in India and abroad are eligible for this grant.
