Unacdemy Fired Teacher who Taught 'Not to Vote for Uneducated Candidates'

Unacademy has recently removed Karan Sangwan, a tutor, from his position for teaching the students by telling them “don”t cast your votes for uneducated candidates”.

“Vote for educated candidates to ensure that people don”t have to “endure all this again” “, said Mr Sangwan while taking classes on Law. “Only the educated can understand things. Vote for them instead of voting for a person who only knows how to change things or change names”, he said without taking any names.

The company does not allow it”s teachers to share their personal opinions and views in the classroom as it can mislead children. Mr Sangwan is terminated since he breached the Code of Conduct of the company, explained the Ed-tech in an official statement on Friday.

The Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal questioned the decision by urging, “people”s representatives cannot be illiterate”.

“Is it a crime to appeal to educated people to vote? If someone is illiterate, personally I respect him”, wrote Mr Kejriwal on X (formerly Twitter).

“But people”s representatives cannot be illiterate. This is the era of science and technology. Illiterate public representatives can never build the modern India of 21st century”, he added in support of the expelled tutor.

Mr Sangwan was terminated since he breached the Code of Conduct of the platform, informed Unacedmy officially.

“We are an education platform that is deeply committed to imparting quality education. To do this we have in place a strict Code of Conduct for all our educators with the intention of ensuring that our learners have access to unbiased knowledge”, wrote Roman Saini, the co-founder of Unacaedmy, on X (formerly Twitter).

“Our learners are at the centre of everything we do”, he added on Thursday.

According to Mr Saini, a teacher is not supposed to share his or her personal opinions in a classroom as it can wrongly influence the students. “In the current situation, we were forced to part ways with Karan Sangwan as he was in breach of the Code of Conduct”, he said.

As reported by the NDTV, Mr Sangwan will share the details about the controversy oh his YouTube channel on Saturday.

Unacademy is an Indian multinational educational technology company. It provides online educational platform and is headquartered in Bangalore. It prepares students for various competitive exams, as well as provides content on foundational and skill building courses.

The video directs the date as 11 August 2023, was posted on X initially by a handle named Dr Nimo Yadav on Thursday. The account even though verified is created by some unknown for tweeting satires.

“RW & BJP Supporters started targeting Karan because they thought he is targeting Modi”, said the Dr Nimo Yadav handle while posting the video. “Reportedly Unacademy terminated Karan Sangwan from the platform today. Today we have lost a great teacher and a great teacher has lost his job just for stating facts”, it adds.

Supporting Mr Sangwan several academissions and public have triggered an “#UninstallUnacademy” campaign which is now trending on X.
