In a surprising turn of events, 22 Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leaders have submitted resignation from the party on Wednesday. The resentment over not getting tickets for the Lok Sabha elections prompted their resignation.

Former Bihar minister Renu Kushwaha, former MLA and the party’s national general secretary Satish Kumar, state organisation minister Ravindra Singh, Ajay Kushwaha, Sanjay Singh and state unit general secretary Rajesh Dangi were among the prominent leaders who tendered resignation.

The resignation has also stemmed from the allegations came up on the distribution of tickets in exchange for money. Ravindra Singh, the party’s organisation secretary, claims that party supremo Chirag Paswan had “sold the tickets”. He accuses that Chirag Paswan has played emotional game with the people of Bihar.

Adding further, Kumar told the news agency that the rebel leaders will now support the Opposition led-INDIA bloc.

Former MP Renu Kushwaha told ANI: “Ticket should be given to the party workers instead of people the from outside. Tickets were given to the outsiders which means that able people are not there in your party. . . . Our devotion was questioned when an outsider was given a ticket. We are not here to serve as labourers for the party.”

The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is part of BJP-led NDA alliance. On March 18, the BJP arrived at a seat sharing agreement with the LJP and Nitish Kumar”s Janata Dal (United). In the forthcoming polls, the LJP is contesting in five out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar and it include Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria and Jamui constituencies. Meanwhile, the BJP will contest in 17 seats.

Bihar will be witnessing elections in seven phases. The dates are April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
