Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday that Congress’s ‘tallest leader’ had reached out to him for reconciliation, following deteriorating ties between the two key INDIA bloc constituents over seat-sharing for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls.
This came soon after he criticized Congress for its “new poll plank of caste census” and engaged in a war of words with former MP CM Kamal Nath.
Although Congress has confirmed the news that they have sent a senior functionary, possibly a emissary of Rahul Gandhi, Congress haven’t disclosed the name nor the message sent to him.
This discourse between the two parties exploded when Congress released its list of candidates for the MP polls. He then said that Congress should tell him that they don’t want an alliance with Samajwadi party. But should not indulge in conspiracies and “do not cheat us”.
He added that with or without alliance Samajwadi party is ready to stand with Congress whenever Congress needed it.
This development came in soon after the verbal discourse between the parties. On Friday, Akhilesh has criticized Congress on Friday for its announcement regarding a caste census in all states governed by the party.
He criticized Congress by saying that it’s the same Congress who didn’t give the number of the caste census now wants a caste census in the states. Congress is aware that the vote they were searching for is not with them anymore, he said.
However, Samajwadi Party ally Rashtriya Lok Dal stayed away from the controversy. On Saturday, the need to solve the dispute between Congress and Samajwadi Party was highlighted.
