NCP member Sulbha Sanjay Khodke is leading with 4,384 votes while Dr. Sunil Panjabrao Deshmukh, who first won the seat in in 1999, 2004 and then in 2014, trailed behind with 3,157 votes.
In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress candidate Sulbha Sanjay Khodke won the seat defeating Dr Sunil Panjabrao Deshmukh of BJP by a margin of 18,271.
In the 2014, Panjabrao won defeating Congress candidate Raosaheb Shekhawat by a margin of 35,072 which was 21.67% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 51.92 percent in 2014 in this seat.
In the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shekhawat won defeating Deshmukh, who contested as an independent candidate, by a margin of 5,614, 4 percent of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 43.7 percent in 2009 in this seat.
The 288 assembly seats in the State went to polls in a single phase on November 20 and 66.05% voter turnout was recorded. Among the seats, 234 belongs to general constituencies, 29 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 25 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
The ruling Mahayuti consists of the BJP, the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led breakaway faction of the Shiv Sena, and the deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
