In his letter to the AAP convenor announcing his resignation, Ashok Tanwar had said that given the current political scenario and your (the party’s) alignment with Congress, his ethics would not allow him to continue to work in AAP.
“In view of the current political scenario and your alignment with the Indian National Congress, my ethics won’t allow me to continue as Chairman, of the Election Campaign Committee, Aam Aadmi Party, Haryana. Therefore, kindly accept my resignation from primary membership and all other responsibilities of the Aam Aadmi Party”. he said when quitting AAP.
However, he joined the BJP at the party”s national headquarters in Delhi and the Haryana chief minister and state BJP chief Nayab Sing Saini were present at the headquarters. After joining the BJP, Tanwar said to the media that he was influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised his leadership.
“As a responsible citizen of this country and being in active politics since my student days, I have always believed in our constitution, the country and its people first. I will continue to work for the betterment of the state of Haryana, our beloved country Bharat and its people,” he said.
Though Tanwar joined the AAP in 2022, he hinted about the rupture he had in the AAP and was planning to quit as per his associates. Some of Tanwar’s associates have also quit AAP, according to the reports by Indian Express. One of his associates said that Tanwar was not getting due respect in the AAP
The political career of Tanwar has been among different parties in the past few years. He was an emerging Congress leader and a close associate of Rahul Gandhi for many years.
