BJP candidate Arti Singh Rao, daughter of Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh has won from Ateli assembly constituency with a vote margin of 57,737 votes. Aarti represents the third generation of a prominent political dynasty. Her grandfather, Rao Birender Singh, served as the second chief minister of Haryana, and her lineage traces back to Rao Tula Ram, a renowned freedom fighter and Yaduvanshi Ahir chieftain of Rewari from 1838 to 1857.
The Ateli constituency is one of the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana. The constituency is poised for a competitive election with multiple parties in the fray. BJP’s sitting MLA, Sitaram is replaced by Arti Singh Rao, while Congress has fielded Anita Yadav. JJP had nominated Aayushi Abhimanyu Rao and AAP had fielded Suneel Rao as its candidate.
In the 2019 assembly election, BJP candidate Sitaram secured victory in the Ateli constituency with a decisive margin of 18,406 votes. The voter turn out stood at 70.58% of voting in Ateli this year.
During the 2019 Haryana Assembly election, BJP emerged victorious, bagging 40 of the 90 seats. The BJP formed the government in coalition with Dushyant Chautala-led JJP, which managed to win 10 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress party received 31 seats and the remaining were taken by INLD, Haryana Lokhit Party and independent candidate.
