Bassi Assembly Election Results: Congress' Laxman Meena Beats BJP's Chandramohan Meena

Indian National Congress candidate Laxman Meena defeated BJP’s Chandramohan Meena in Bassi constituency. This is second time Laxman has won the seat in Bassi constituency of Rajasthan. Laxman garnered 88043 votes while, Chandramohan Meena came second with 81729 votes and independent candidate Jitendra Meena came third with 9564 votes.

The Assembly election in Rajasthan was held on November 25th for 200 seats. The constituency of Bassi is a part of Rajasthan’s Jaipur district and is reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates.Of the 200 seats in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, 34 have been reserved for Scheduled Castes and 25 for Scheduled Tribes.

In the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections, Bassi constituency witnessed a total of 234,492 electors, with 121,797 male voters and 112,695 female voters. On November 25, during the voting process, 183,768 voters participated, with 97,212 male voters and 86,556 female voters exercising their franchise. The voter turnout rate in Bassi was 78.37%, contributing to the overall 74.62% turnout in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections, surpassing the 2018 turnout of 74.41%.

In the 2013 assembly elections, independent candidate Anju Devi Dhanka had secured victory over NPEP”s Avanti Meena, garnering 48095 votes compared to Meena”s 36756. Lakshman from the INC claimed the third position with 29703 votes. The constituency had 180409 voters then.

In 2018, Congress”s Laxman Meena defeated Kanhaylal as the former polled 79878 votes and the later polled 37114. This time, independent candidate who won in 2013 election Anju Devi Dhanka came third with 25207. The total electorate was 208977 in 2018.

Overall, according to the latest reports, Out of the total 200 seats, BJP leading with 115 seats and INC is in second with 69 seats. Along with Rajasthan, the Assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. The results of these three states have also been announced today.
