Chandra Prakash Joshi, known as CP Joshi, the state BJP head has been nominated from Chittorgarh Lok Sabha Constituency, his sitting seat since 2014 onwards. The BJP included his name in the first list of candidates announced for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. CP Joshi is one of the vocal BJP leaders in the state and has a strong influence in the party. Won two terms from the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Joshi”s ascent to the party”s Rajasthan state presidency speaks for his leadership and experience, and the Prime Minister has also praised his works. Though he is a soft-spoken guy, he has been more vocal in slamming the opposition Congress party.

Born in 1975, Mr Joshi began his political career while studying in college. He has served as the Vice President of the Student Union at  Government Senior Secondary School in Chittorgarh. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur.

Mr Joshi later joined the BJP”s student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and subsequently reached to limelight in the party. He has become a member of the Chittorgarh District Council several times. Mr Joshi was appointed as the BJP”s Rajasthan president in 2023, replacing Satish Poonia.

As the one who wrested the power from Congress” Girija Vyas in 2014 and retained it with a landslide majority in 2019, the party has trusted him for another term in the seat. Recently, Mr Joshi took a swipe at the grand old party saying that the Congress has become scattered and leaderless. After the announcement of the election schedule, Mr Joshi said that the people have understood the leadership scarcity in Congress and have decided to retain Prime Minister Modi. He had also cited the increasing defections of Congress leaders to note that how the grand old party lost the public trust.
