BJP is putting up tough play in Jharkhand. The party has given tickets to all the big names in state”s politics. From Palamau constituency, BJP has decided to field Vishnu Dayal Ram. Palamau constituency plays a pivotal role in Jharkhand politics. This is the third consecutive time BJP is giving ticket to V D Ram.
Hails from Nainijor, Buxar of Bihar, Ram completed his schooling from Netarhat Residential School. Though there has been several discussions regarding the age limit of the candidate, BJP expressed its confidence in Vishnu Dayal Ram.
Vishnu Dayal Ram has been holding the Palamau constituency since he stepped into politics. He won the Lok Sabha seat from the same constituency in 2014 for the first time. After becoming the Member of Parliament, Ram has been made a permanent member of the Foreign Relations Committee. He managed to bag a victorious win during the 2019 election. Ram’s victory in the 2019 election was perceived as a reaffirmation of the BJP’s growing popularity in the region. He won 7,55,659 votes, where as RJD’s (Rashtriya Janata Dal) candidate, Ghuran Ram got 2,78,053 votes.
Vishnu Dayal Ram is the member of Standing Committee on Water Resources, Consultative Committee in the Coal Ministry. He is also member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Security in the Parliament House since 2018.
He was Director General of Police (DGP) of the Jharkhand police twice. He also served as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bhagalpur and Patna. Ram joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after his retirement. He served as the Jharkhand DGP from 2005 to 2006 and from 2007 to 2010. He is a 1973 batch of IPS.
