The Indian National Congress gave ticket to Karan Singh Uchiyarda from the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency of Rajasthan. Uchiyarda is contesting against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Gejendra Singh Shekhawat, who has won the seat for last two terms.
Though BJP took over for the past two terms consecutively, the atmosphere appears to be in favour of Congress this year. Reportedly, the BJP workers of Jodhpur are not on the same page over several issues. At the same, a huge crowd gathered together to welcome Uchiyarda to Jodhpur after Congress gave him ticket to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Thousands of supporters gathered to congratulate and wish him well.
Speaking to NDTV, the politician said that he will deal with issues of development. He said that it’s been long that the BJP government been giving false promises of 2 crore jobs every year. He also mentioned the Ram Temple issue and said that Ram Temple is not anyone’s inheritance, and added that BJP is dividing people in the name of Ram.
Karan Singh Uchiyarda is known as Sachin Pilot loyalist. He is currently serving as the General Secretary of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. He also served as the Secretary. The Jodhpur constituency was a forte of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from 1991 to 1999. However, the seat has seen a fair share rule from both Congress and BJP.
