The Congress party released its Election Manifesto on Friday. Party’s top leaders including Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal unveiled the manifesto. The name of the manifesto for this time is “Nyay Patra”.
A committee chaired by former Finance Minister P Chidambaram prepared the manifesto. Broad theme of the manifesto is “justice”, Chidambaram said. Congress leader added that “work, wealth and welfare,” the three powerful words are the theme of party.
Congress chief said that the manifesto will be remembered for the “delivery of justice”. We are focusing on five Nyays with 25 guarantees, Mallikarjun Kharge said.
The “Paanch Nyay” or five pillars of justice includes Yuva Nyay” (for youth), “Naari Nyay” (for women), “Kisaan Nyay” (for farmers), “Shramik Nyay” (for labourers) and “Hissedari Nyay” (opportunities proportionate to population). These Nyays were announced during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
Among the five promises, the party has announced ‘Kisaan Nyay’, focusing on the legal guarantee for MSP and ‘Nari Nyay’ for women and ‘Shramik Nyay’ for workers even before. Besides, Congress has presented 25 election guarantees, five each under each category of “five promises”.
Major Promises In Nyay Patra:
- Congress will conduct nationwide socio-economic and caste census.
- The party will ensure legal guarantees to MSP announced by the government every year as per Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations.
- Congress promise to launch Mahalakshmi scheme wherein Rs 1 lakh per year will be provided to every poor Indian family.
- The manifesto encourages people to look beyond religion, language, caste and urges to choose sensibly and install democratic government.
- The poll manifesto promises to set the national minimum wage at Rs 400 per day.
- The Rajasthan model of cashless insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh will be adopted for universal healthcare.
- It promises to fill nearly 30 lakh vacancies in sanctioned posts at various levels in central government.
- Abolish Agnipath programme and direct Armed Forces to resume normal recruitment to achieve full sanctioned strength.
Earlier today, Congress Chief wrote on X: “The Congress party shall be unveiling its Manifesto today. Our 5 NYAY — 25 GUARANTEE agenda represents our non-negotiable commitment to the welfare of Nation.
