Congress, after its Working Committee meeting in Hyderabad, expressed confidence in its preparedness for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections and said the party is fully ready for the “battle ahead”.
An extended Congress Working Committee meeting was held today and passed a resolution saying the grand old party will receive a decisive mandate from the people of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana, where the state Assembly elections are expected by end of this year.
“It also reaffirms the preparedness of the party organization for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are due in April-May 2024. The Congress Party is fully ready for the battle ahead. It is confident that the people of our country are wanting change,” a Congress party statement said.
The statement added that the party will fulfil people’s expectations of law and order, freedom, social and economic justice, equality and equity.
The CWC recalled the role of Congress, then UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the formation of Telangana state and said they “resolutely heeded the voices of Telangana”s people, consulting every stakeholder and surmounting every political challenge.”
Nine years after Telangana was formed, the party in a statement said, the promise of Golden Telangana lies shattered, betrayed by governments both in Delhi and Hyderabad.
“The dream for which people fought for Telangana has remained unfulfilled. The resources of the new state, meant for its people, have instead been siphoned off by those in power,” it said.
Congress accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his family “established family rule and are deaf to the voices of the people. Instead of the promised golden future, they have dragged the state into the past by ruling like the Nizams”.
“The Congress party is ready to make history in Telangana. The party will unveil six key guarantees to the people of Telangana tomorrow, building on declarations in Warangal for farmers, Hyderabad for youth, and Khammam for the elderly,” the CWC said and appealed to the people of Telangana to cast their votes for the Congress in the upcoming Assembly and Parliament elections. “It is time to reignite the dream of a Bangaaru Telangana, and deliver the future that the people of Telangana deserve,” it said.
