INDIA Alliance’ Massive Show Of Strength In Mumbai Ahead Of Lok Sabha Elections

In a massive show of strength, members of the Opposition INDIA alliance from across the country came together in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park and held a mammoth public meeting on Sunday, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and following the culmination of Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

The meeting was attended by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi (Congress), Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena UBT), Sharad Pawar (NCP), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin (DMK), former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav (RJD), Kalpana Soren (JMM), Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren (JMM), former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah (JKNC) and Mehbooba Mufti (PDP), Dipankar Bhattacharya (CPI-ML), Saurabh Bhardwaj (AAP), Prakash Ambedkar (VBA), Sadiq Ali (IUML) and Thirumavalavan (VCK) among others.

The leaders addressed the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Manzil-INDIA Rally’ and unleashed scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and its government.

“BJP MP from Karnataka said- Give us 400 seats, we will change the Constitution. Earlier people in the country did not have rights, but after independence, when the Constitution was made, everyone got rights. It is because of the Constitution that Modi is the Prime Minister today, but these people are talking about abolishing the Constitution,” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said while addressing the gathering.

Shiv Sena UBT president Uddhav Thackeray said the fight fighting is to save democracy and the Constitution. “No matter how big a dictator is, when the people of the country unite, even the biggest dictator’s rule comes to an end,” Mr Thackeray said.

Former Congress president and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that he got to learn a lot from the travels he undertook recently. “It hurt, it hurt… but I can”t explain the love I got from my heart. This is not a country of hatred, but of love. Hate is being spread in the country so that your attention is diverted and your money is snatched away. But don”t let hatred spread, because only one message has come from the heart of India – the shop of love has to be opened in the market of hatred,” Mr Gandhi said.

PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti reminded Mr Gandhi that he has a big responsibility because his name has “Gandhi” attached to it. “People of BJP are very afraid of the name “Gandhi” and will be afraid in future too,” she added.

VCK leader and MP Thirumavalavan said “young and energetic leader Rahul Gandhi” who concluded the historic ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in the land of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule — the land of equality and social justice—is the only hope of the nation. He added that the INDIA bloc will support Mr Gandhi to save the country from the divisive forces.

NCP’s Sharad Pawar said the BJP has trapped the people of the country by giving false assurances, and said “there is a need to bring change in India”.

“When talk of INDIA alliance started, people used to say – they will never be together. But you see – everyone is together. We will have to fight to win. That”s why I want to say – “If we fight, we will win”,” AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said while addressing the gathering.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said the massive public gatherings during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra made the BJP lose sleep.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said Rahul Gandhi has tried to deliver a message which is quite significant in today”s days. “To save India”s Constitution, brotherhood and to defeat hatred, he commenced the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” and for that my heartfelt thanks to Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party,” Mr Yadav added.
