It Took Only Less Than 10 Days For Ambati Rayudu To Quit Jagan Reddy’s YSR Congress

Cricketer Ambati Rayudu quit Jagan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party in less than ten days. The former India player had joined the Andhra ruling party on December 28 last year and announced his decision of leaving the party on Saturday.

”This is to inform everyone that I (Ambati Rayudu) have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time,” the player announced today. Rayudu after leaving the party said that he would convey his next move in due course of time.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy along with Jagan Mohan Reddy welcomed the former cricketer to the party. “In the presence of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ambati Tirupati Rayudu joined YSRCP at the CM’s camp office,” YSRCP said in a post on social media platform X.

As per the India Today report, before joining the YSRCP party, Rayudu who hails from Guntur, has participated in the party programmes and he also reached out to party leaders in his native place. Rayudu has not yet revealed his reason behind sudden decision.

The cricketer retired from the Indian Premiere League (IPL) following his team Chennai Super Kings win in May 2023. The 38-year-old has an impressive record in one-day internationals (ODIs), playing 55 matches for the country. He amassed a total of 1694 runs, with an average of 47.05. His best performance was an unbeaten 124 runs.
