Jangpura Assembly Election Result:
In Jangpura, AAP’s Manish Sisodia lost to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah, says report. Located in the New Delhi district, the Jangpura Assembly constituency went to polls on February 5, 2025. The major candidates in the fray are Aam Admi Party’s (AAP) Manish Sisodia, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Tarvinder Singh Marwah, and Indian National Congress’ (INC) Farhad Suri. During the last Assembly election, AAP’s Praveen Kumar won the constituency with the margin of 16,063 votes. BJP’s Impreet Singh Bakshi came second with 29,070 votes.
Jangpura has been the strong hold of AAP since 2013. During the 2020 Assembly election in Delhi, AAP swept 62 of the 70 seats in the national capital. While the BJP-led NDA alliance won eight seats. It was a disaster for Congress, as it failed to open any account. The party lost in all 66 seats it contested. During the 2015, Praveen Kumar won the seat with the margin of 20,450 votes. BJP’s Maninder Singh Dhir received 23,477 votes, and the Congress’ Tarvinder Singh Marwah obtained 22,662 votes. AAP won the seat in its first election in 2013, right after the part was founded in 2012.
The Assembly election was held on February 5, with over 15 million voters casting their ballots across 70 constituencies. A total of 699 candidates, including 96 women, contested the elections.
The triangular contest in the national capital created palpable tension. While AAP and Congress are part of INDIA alliance on national level, the two parties are contesting against each other in Delhi. If BJP won the capital, it would be a huge comeback after 27 years.
