Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: V. T. Sooraj Wins Balusseri With Big Margin As UDF Gains Key Seat

As per Election Commission data, V. T. Sooraj of the Indian National Congress has secured a decisive victory in the Balusseri constituency. He won with 94,804 votes, defeating LDF candidate Adv. K. M. Sachin Dev of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), who polled 77,824 votes.

Sooraj registered a strong winning margin of 16,980 votes after the completion of all 19 rounds of counting. The large margin reflects a clear advantage for the Congress candidate, who maintained steady support throughout the counting process.

BJP candidate C. P. Satheesh finished third with 17,669 votes, trailing far behind the leading candidates. The wide gap between the top two and the third candidate highlights a primarily direct contest between the UDF and LDF in the constituency.

The result marks an important gain for the UDF, as the Congress candidate managed to defeat a strong LDF opponent with a comfortable margin. The consistent lead and final numbers indicate a clear shift in voter preference in favour of the Congress in Balusseri.

This outcome is seen as a significant political development in the constituency, strengthening the UDF’s position in the overall election scenario.
