Kerala Polls: 76.87% Voter Turnout In Irinjalakuda Assembly Constituency
The total voter turnout in Irinjalakuda Assembly constituency of Kerala was recorded as 76.87%. Reflecting strong public participation across both urban and rural areas, voting progressed peacefully throughout the day on Thursday, important highlight including a lot of old people voting during the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026. The voter turnout at Irinjalakuda was 17.18% till 9am on April 9. By 11am the turnout was 34.74%, it was 51.42% at 1pm, 64.06% by 3pm, and 74.64% by 5pm.befor crossing 76.87% by evening.
Irinjalakuda is one of the 140 Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) constituencies in Kerala. The Irinjalakuda Assembly constituency falls within the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency. The previous election voter turnout in Irinjalakuda in the 2021 Assembly election was 74.8%, while it was 77.81% in 2016, and 75.99% in 2011. A total of 1,93,300 electors are eligible to vote, of whom 93,336 are male, 99,962 are female, and two are of the third gender
In the 2021 election, current cabinet minister in the Pinarayi Vijayan government R. Bindu secured 62,493 votes and emerged as the winner. Thomas Unniyadan of UDF received 56,544 votes, while the BJP candidate polled 34,329 votes. The margin of victory for Bindu was 5949 votes. In 2016, Prof. K.U. Arunan of CPIM was the winner in this seat, beating Adv. Thomas Unniyadan by a margin of 2711 votes. Irinjalakuda is a closely watched constituency where elections are often competitive and voter preferences shift. This time as well, both the major alliances– UDF and LDF — are repeating the same candidates. The results will be announced on May 4, 2026.
