Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Congress’ O. J. Janeesh Wins Kodungallur With 8,308 Vote Margin
As per Election Commission data, Adv. O. J. Janeesh of the Indian National Congress has secured victory in the Kodungallur constituency with 65,162 votes. He defeated Adv. V. R. Sunil Kumar of the Communist Party of India, who polled 56,854 votes.
Janeesh won the seat with a margin of 8,308 votes after the completion of all 15 rounds of counting. The result shows a clear advantage for the Congress candidate in the final stages of counting.
Dr. Varghese George of the Twenty 20 Party finished third with 23,933 votes, trailing behind the top two candidates. The figures indicate that the main contest was between the UDF and LDF candidates.
The consistent lead maintained by Janeesh during the counting process helped him secure the victory. The margin, while not extremely large, reflects steady support for the Congress candidate across the constituency.
With this result, the UDF registers an important win in Kodungallur, strengthening its position in the overall election outcome.
The counting of votes for the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections began at 8:00 am on Monday, marking the culmination of a high-stakes political battle among the United Democratic Front (UDF), the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
