In the Maharashtra Assembly polls, senior BJP leader Subhash Sureshchandra Deshmukh is aiming for a hat-trick win from Solapur South constituency. He currently serves as the Cabinet Minister of Co-Operation, Relief, and Rehabilitation.
Deshmukh is the founder of Lokmangal Group and Solapur Social Foundation. During his political career, he has also exercised roles such as BJP District President and BJP Maharastra State Vice President.

In 2004 Lok Sabha polls, Deshmukh contested from Solapur seat and secured 3,16,188 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Ujwalatai Sushilkumar Shinde with a margin of 5,798 votes.
In the 2014 Assembly election, Deshmukh won the Solapur South seat by defeating Congress candidate Dilip Brahmdev Mane by a margin of 27,123 votes.
He took the oath as a Cabinet Minister for the first time in July 2016. He handled Co-operation, Marketing and Textiles departments.
In the 2019 polls, Sureshchandra retained the seat by securing 87,223 votes. He won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Moulali Bashumiya Sayyed (baba Mistri) with a margin of 29,247 votes.

The 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20. The Assembly elections marks the first in the state after the Shiv Sena and NCP parties split in June 2022 and July 2023, respectively.
In the polls, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) is fighting against the ruling Eknath Shinde – led Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP’s Mahayuti alliance.
